Concept of Botanica CT, Balik Pulau

CONCEPT
BOTANICA.CT intend to be an integrated and self-sustainable garden township where green is the theme. A complete garden community that offers healthy lifestyle, able to enjoy the peace of mind and unmatched quality of life. In order to translate the concept onto the ground, development team had looked on 3 principles : social, environment, and spiritual.

The location of Botanica CT

PRINCIPLE 1 : SOCIAL
Social can be defined as “…how individuals, communities and societies live with each other and set out to achieve the objectives of development models, which they have chosen for themselves taking also into account the physical boundaries of their places and planet earth as a whole…”
(Source: Social Sustainability Linking Research to Policy and Practice, 2009)

For my understanding, social sustainability is about:
  1. creating and maintaining quality of life for people
  2. able define development to reflect its underlying culture, values and goals
  3. meet the needs of current generations and able support the ability of future generations
  4. able provide and sustain an environment that people can meet, encourage participation of people to gather and know to each other
  5. improve health from physical and mental aspect
  6. provide essential services and public facilities

PRINCIPLE 2 : ENVIRONMENT
Environment refer to the conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates. It could be a natural world, a whole or particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity.

When we talked about environment, 1st thing comes into my mind is the green environment. A healthy environment consisting of mainly trees as the main elements supported by others elements such as sun for lighting and air flow for breathing. These elements are very critical and many others are linked together that they made the area become better not just physically, but also giving a different feel to the people.

PRINCIPLE 3 : SPIRITUAL
Spiritual can be defined as the quality of one’s sensitivity to the things that cannot be directly perceived by our senses but those things can be inferred by our observations. For example, like love, feeling pleasant, peace and so on.

It is after all basic human values that determine social interactions and cohesion. It covers how we interact with the others in various social and economic contexts. Spiritual values are not only relevant to the individual. There is a collective spiritual dimension to a community or society, just like a soul in many bodies.
